If you are able to gather 100 people or more, our commitment is to be available at no charge. Duration: 2.5 hours (Two sessions of 45 minutes with 20-minute interval which gives time for opening and closing and a short intro session from Focus with video.)
Event Description: The aim of “preparing kids for emotional setbacks” is to equip parents with useful tools to help their kids thrive. Emotional setbacks are a part of life and it is essential to teach your child how to navigate these to prevent potential problems which then affect other aspects of their lives as they grow.
What to expect/topics covered: Themes include: Mindset shifts, Problem solving skills, Dealing with thoughts , emotional regulation and more…
Along with these you will also hear how to help them use scripture to foster good mental health. Philippians 4:8 : fix their thoughts on what is true, noble and right.
Anthea Nagoor has served as the Director of Counselling at Focus on the Family Africa for the past eight and a half years. Focus on the Family is a global organisation committed to helping families thrive and has been actively serving communities at grassroots level in South Africa for over 30 years.
In her role, Anthea leads a diverse team of professionals dedicated to supporting individuals and families both nationally and internationally, particularly during a time of growing mental health challenges. Her work is grounded in compassion, clinical insight, and a strong commitment to holistic well-being.
Anthea holds a Master’s degree in Social Science, specialising in Research Psychology, from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). She has been registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa for the past 16 years. A passionate advocate for mental health, she frequently speaks on issues such as mental health awareness, gender-based violence (GBV), grief, marriage, depression, and suicide. She is a regular voice on radio and at speaking engagements across the country.
With extensive experience in counselling, Anthea has impacted many lives through her work in family, marriage, and emotional wellness.
She has been married for 12 years and is a devoted mother to two daughters. Outside of her professional commitments, she remains actively involved in church ministry, continuing to serve her community with heart and purpose.
