Greetings from Colorado Springs, where a busy summer is in full swing here at Focus on the Family! Even though this time of year represents a slower period for some organizations, we’re working harder than ever as we seek to embrace the numerous ministry opportunities before us.
Busy or not, Focus typically experiences a downturn in contributions during the summer months. Unfortunately, the situation this year is particularly acute. In fact, as of this writing, we’re estimating that we could end the year $5 million under budget for 2006. Needless to say, a shortfall of this magnitude could significantly impact both our current operations and new ministry initiatives as we transition from an activity-filled summer into what promises to be an even more hectic fall.
We’re aware that this time of the year can be financially challenging for our friends and supporters, as well. However, if you have met your obligations to your local church, and if you find you have a little extra that you feel the Lord might be leading you to set aside as a contribution to Focus on the Family, we would love to hear from you. A gift of any amount would be tremendously helpful to us at this time.
Despite the budgetary issues currently facing the ministry, we’re optimistic about what the Lord has in store. Focus has a number of exciting endeavors in the works — including a new initiative designed to emphasize adoption and orphan care; Focus on the Family’s The Truth Project™ Christian worldview seminars; our How to Drug-Proof Your Kids™ curriculum and a host of other community-based programs. Each of these efforts, and many others like them, represent a unique opportunity to impact lives with practical assistance and the love of Christ.
Please join us in praying that the Lord would provide us with the means to move forward with these plans, won’t you? And again, if you feel led to partner with us in the vital work of ministering to families and defending biblical values in the culture, a contribution toward that end would mean so much.
Thanks in advance for your partnership in the mission to which He has called us. We love and appreciate you more than words can say!
Sincerely,
