Episode 4:
How to Strengthen Your
Spiritual Intimacy as a Couple

If spiritual intimacy is important, then how should married couples strengthen it? That’s what Dr. Robert Paul and Jenni Paul explore in this fourth episode. They discuss how God works to unify a husband and a wife in this way, how to create a safe environment as a couple, and how to journey together spiritually.

Watch the video to get started. Then check out the Scripture verse, discussion questions, prayer, and additional resources.

Step 1: Watch Episode 4

Step 2:
Read and Meditate on Scripture

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,
that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

(Romans 15:5-6, ESV)

Step 3:
Questions For Discussion

  1. Do you and your spouse have a safe, secure environment to be spiritually vulnerable with each other? What are some ways you could improve in this?

  2. Dr. Robert and Jenni say to discuss various things: how you two can connect spiritually, what you each like, each of your relationships with God, and how to join each other in your spiritual journeys. Have a conversation with your spouse. How do you each answer these questions?

  3. What are some common spiritual practices you can do together so that you can grow together as a husband and wife?

Step 2:
Take Time in Prayer

Lord,
You want us to grow in our faith, and You want us to be spiritually united in our marriage.
Please help us and guide our marriage as we both walk with You.
When we’re unsure how to connect spiritually, or when we stumble,
remind us of Your will and guide us back to where You want us to be.
Amen.
